20 Oct Clay + Charcoal Mud Mask
Yep, my skin has gone wild. Clay masks are my best friend at the moment. The clay helps draw out impurities in the skin, perfect for acne-prone faces aka mine. Bentonite Clay that have anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as white or kaolin clays that can purify skin and draw out impurities from deep within your pores. Activated Charcoal is also an effective treatment imaginable for sapping sebum out of clogged pores, preventing pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads, and clearing up and healing acne. Woo! Apple cider vinegar is so great for curing acne because it returns the acidity to our skin and restores that acid mantle. It also kills bacteria, removes excess dirt, oil and makeup and dissolves dead skin cells.
You can use other oils that are great for skin – here are my faves:
The benefits of tea tree oil are countless, but when it comes to treating acne and oily skin, we’re all about its zit-fighting antibacterial properties. This means tea tree oil is also a great choice to treat minor cuts and scrapes.
Lavender essential oil helps heal skin irritations and can be used for all skin types. It can cleanse cuts and scrapes, and also calm down stressed skin. Acne is usually accompanied with redness, inflammation and irritation, all treated with this powerful essential oil.
Copaiba essential oil contains large amounts of beta-caryophyllene, a molecule that interacts with cannabinoid receptors in your skin. This causes skin cells to produce beta-endorphin, one of the happiness hormones. Beta-caryophyllene is also a potent anti-inflammatory agent and copaiba is one of the safest oils to use on the skin. It can be very useful in healing, soothing irritation and treating chronic skin disease.
